About The Job

Salary: Grade 1 £17,842
Working Pattern: 24 hours (Saturday, Sunday and 2 mid week shifts)
Contract Length: 6 months
Location: Marjorie Cobby House, St. Peter's Crescent Selsey

To succeed as a Housekeeper, you will be friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking with the ability to follow defined instructions and complete various cleaning tasks efficiently and to a high standard.

You will be a keen team player, responsive to changing needs, and able to work professionally alongside staff, visitors and residents. You'll demonstrate good common sense and an awareness of personal health and safety when using cleaning equipment and materials.

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the home / centre to a high standard of cleanliness in accordance with Health and Safety regulations. You'll be cleaning all residential rooms including communal areas, offices, kitchens and bathrooms from top to bottom.

It's an active role, for example, you'll be lifting or carrying buckets of water, pushing or pulling vacuum cleaners and trolleys, and rubbing or scrubbing surfaces and windows.

There is a regular and intrinsic requirement to communicate in English with members of the public, staff, residents, and visitors.

You'll need to be flexible and comfortable with undertaking lone weekend working on a rota with other housekeepers in order to ensure the needs of the home / centre are fulfilled.

Shifts:

  • Saturday: 6 hours - 8 am to 14:00 pm.
  • Sunday: 6 hours - 8 am to 14:00 pm.
  • Plus 2 x 6 hour shifts in the week, this can be flexible.

Experience and Skills

Key Skills:

  1. Ability to undertake a wide range of cleaning tasks.
  2. Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with service users, staff and visitors at the centre.
  3. Ability to have a flexible approach to allocated duties and work as part of a team.
  4. Ability to be sensitive to the needs of the service users.

Qualifications and/or experience:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations. Desirable.
  • Experience of using a range of cleaning equipment including powered equipment. Desirable.
  • Experience of working as a cleaner in paid employment. Desirable.
