Health Improvement Programme Manager (Older People)

The Public Health Programmes Team is looking to recruit a Health Improvement Programme manager. This post will report to the Senior Public Health Manager (Vulnerable Adults) and will be responsible for the new portfolio of Older People.


Applicants should have knowledge and recent experience of:

  • measuring and monitoring population health through health needs assessments, insights gathering or other similar procedures to identify need, risk and inequalities.
  • Promoting health and addressing health inequalities
  • Health protection (environmental hazards, communicable diseases and other health risks)
  • Evidence based practice to provide health advice
  • Audit, Evaluation. Performance management and continuous development of commissioned and delivered interventions to improve health.
  • Working to the most recent policies, evidence and strategies to reduce health inequalities among older people.
  • Collaborative working with stakeholders from voluntary, statutory and private sectors.


Tasks will include:

  • Researching and writing Health Needs Assessments
  • Mapping Community Assets
  • Building and maintaining collaborative partnerships
  • Developing an Older Peoples Strategy for Medway
  • Project proposals and project management
  • Identifying and implementing system wide solutions to complex problems
  • Performance management of services
  • Budget monitoring and forecasting
  • Delivering training and public speaking
  • Supporting the wider work of the Public Health Directorate
