You will deliver high quality strategic support for the Housing Service and enable the delivery of new affordable housing to meet the identified needs and aspirations of the Council.

What it’s like working in our team… 

Reporting to the Head of Housing and working closely with senior managers across the Council, you will form part of a small, passionate team. The post holder will provide the essential joint working between the Housing and Planning teams.  

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training… 

This is an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking, enthusiastic Housing Strategy, Enabling and Projects Manager to help us achieve our affordable housing targets and seek innovative solutions to meet housing need across all tenures, including for specialist housing. You will be responsible for producing housing and related strategies, policies and procedures that contribute to achieving this aim. You will lead on enabling the provision of affordable housing, working with planning on policy as well as direct negotiations with developers and Registered Providers to deliver affordable housing to meet policy requirements.

What we’re looking for… 

You should be prepared to deliver results through partnerships and be an excellent communicator, negotiator and someone who can work flexibly as part of a team. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to carry out research and write reports and strategic documentsA sound understanding of housing development and planning policy and processes is key, together with a wider understanding of current housing policy and drivers.
