The role

We are looking for a Business Applications Officer with experience in application support, analysing user requirements, business processes, developing IT systems and database administration. 

The position sits within the Business Applications team in the IT Department who provide databases, systems and application support to 450 users across two sites. The Business Applications team play an important role within the council ensuring all council services have the systems and data available to carry out their work. A combination of third party systems and bespoke developments and integrations are used. 

You will be responsible for the provision and support of various systems related to service areas of the Council, in particular those systems requiring Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle DBA expertise. 

Essential qualifications/experience

To have at least 5 O’Level / GCSE’s and be educated to A’Level standard. Previous experience in a development role and experience of MS SQL Server administration 

Desirable qualifications/experience

A degree or professional qualification in a relevant area of Computing or IT is desirable. Experience of administering complex databases eg Oracle or equivalent.
