Job Title: Welfare Benefits Adviser
Location: Stevenage
Salary Range: (H9) £32,234 to £34,728 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per per week
Contract: 12 months fixed term contract (with possible extension)

Job Duties:

Hertfordshire County Council‘s Money Advice Unit provides advice, information and training on welfare benefits. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Welfare Benefits Adviser to join our Care and Support Benefits Advice team, providing casework, advocacy and appeals representation as required.

You will need an excellent and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits, especially as it relates to carers and disabled people, a proven ability to provide comprehensive benefit checks and representation to set deadlines and handle a high-volume caseload.  The post holder will have good knowledge and understanding of the social security legal framework and an ability to represent clients to at least Tribunal level.

Although based in Stevenage, due to social distancing guidelines you will be able to primarily work from home, and the organisation is working towards this being a feature post-pandemic. The service is to be delivered mainly by phone, e-mail and when social distancing rules relax, in-person as necessary.  An ability to deliver training and talks, in person or on-line, would be an advantage. You will be joining an experienced and supportive team, providing information, advice, representation and training.

You will be required on occasion to undertake travel countywide.
