The Post

We are recruiting a high calibre individual to lead the Employment, Skills and Enterprise team. As well as being the lead advisor on these areas, you will lead the teams to deliver great outcomes for Brent residents. You will be responsible for adult education, employment services and support, economic growth and the Town Centre programme. All of these areas are crucial to delivering on the Council's objectives in the Borough Plan, and particularly in helping with recovery from the impacts of the pandemic.

There are exciting projects underway which will need your supervision and guidance, including the Harlesden Town Centre Investment Strategy, and the development of a new adult education centre. You will liaise with a wide range of internal and external partners, including the West London Alliance, United Colleges Group, and the Brent Business Board. You will have regular engagement with the Corporate Management Team and Cabinet. You will be working with a fantastic team of colleagues and will be able to achieve tangible outcomes, making you proud of the work and working for Brent.

The Person

You will be an experienced public sector leader who can bring knowledge, commitment, passion, and drive to improving the lives of Brent residents via economic development, employment and skills avenues. You will be able to think strategically, and work well with other people both within the Council and with external bodies.

You will be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, understand and engage with funding opportunities and deliver the services in budget. As part of the management team in the Regeneration service you will need to be able to make links between the different departmental work streams, and strive for continuous improvement in delivering the service.
