Revenues Services are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Valuation Officer to fill the above vacancy, which is based in the Council Tax Team. The post holder will be responsible for visiting empty properties and new builds to ensure that empty discounts and exemptions are being applied correctly; identify and bring new properties into the Council Tax and Valuation lists, issuing completion notices, and reviewing Council Tax and Business Rates discounts and exemptions, to ensure entitlement is correct. This will involve identifying fraud in liaison with the services Fraud and Compliance Team and issuing penalty notices as applicable.
As the post involves dealing with sensitive, confidential information a working knowledge of the Data Protection Principles is essential. A good standard of education is required including GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths. You should also have competent IT skills.
A full current driving license and access to a vehicle is required as travelling within the district will be necessary. A casual user mileage allowance will be paid.
