Procurement Support Assistant


Fixed Term Temporary Contract  9 months


An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Procurement Support Assistant to join Wirral Council's Corporate Procurement Team


The post is part of a centralised team that carry out the role of purchase coordination within the Procurement team. The role will provide full procurement support to the Supply Chain Manager by managing all competitive purchasing activity up to a value of £50k that is both compliant and delivers value for money. This will be completed by using specialist procurement solutions for the provision of online purchasing facilities and e-Sourcing, therefore proven experience of using electronic systems and Microsoft office (especially Excel) is essential.


The role requires the candidate to have excellent teamwork skills and the ability to create good working relationships both across the Council and with external suppliers.


You will also need to have analytical expertise as well as the ability to organise and prioritise daily tasks and workload.


You will need to be highly organised, have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.


You will provide advice and support to all users of the Oracle purchasing system and identify training needs.


You should be able to work to deadlines and proficient in using your initiative to identify and resolve problems.
