Procurement Officer

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is a highly performing local authority looking for a Procurement Officer to provide support to our procurement partnership with Maidstone Borough Council.  You will be providing advice and guidance on the appropriate procurement processes to key stakeholders and contract managers, ensuring that they are followed compliantly.  The role will also provide administrative support to the Procurement department, with responsibilities for payment card purchases, transparency reports, utilities monitoring and stationery ordering.

You will need to have a keen eye for detail and be comfortable working in a busy and varied role where prioritisation is key.  You will be innovative and have the ability to problem solve in order to achieve the desired outomes for our stakeholders.

Due to government guidelines in relation to the global COVID-19 pandemic, this role will require remote working for the foreseeable future.   An initial induction and training will be undertaken at our offices (dependent upon restrictions and guidance at that point) and the remainder of the training and on-boarding will be undertaken remotely with the full support of your line manager.

If you are a graduate looking to develop a career, and ideally have experience within an office environment, or customer facing role - we'd like to hear from you!  We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and has a commitment to learning.  We will support you and train you to do the rest!  We will also facilitate and fund your studies for Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Qualifications upon completion of your probation period.

The partnership is going through an exciting period of transformation - having been formed in April 2020 - and you will be a part of this, helping to shape our working practices and processes moving forward.

Additional benefits for this post include 22 days annual leave (increasing to 27 days after 5 years continuous Local Government service), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and invaluable training opportunities for continuing professional development.
