Duties of the post:

At Adur and Worthing we have established ourselves as trail blazers in local government Digital transformation.  

Paul Brewer and his team have led the way in adopting a low code development platform to build digital solutions around the needs of our service users.   We have an ambitious cloud adoption strategy with many of our major systems now cloud hosted significantly reducing our data centre footprint.  Adoption of Google as our email and collaboration platform, supports us to work flexibly so that at the start of the pandemic we were able to mobilise home working for 300+ staff in a matter of days whilst adapting our services to challenging circumstances.  

We have good relationships with our service areas, working in partnership to deliver innovative and effective solutions for our communities.  With the right foundations now firmly in place our aspirations for the future are equally ambitious.  We are evolving our Development work, embedding  product ownership within services.  We are developing our technical team to proactively manage our hosted environments, building new skills within the team, as well as being mid-flight with the migration of two of our most complex systems.  We are changing how the Councils work in a post-pandemic world as part of our WorkspacesAW project, building on the lessons learnt from flexible working.  We are starting the reprocurement of our data network helping future proof our security and business continuity arrangements.  

Our plans are continuously and rapidly evolving and we are now recruiting for a Delivery Manager who will lead Service Management, Development and Programme Delivery, ensuring we are delivering the right solutions for our services and communities.  This role will work closely with our recently appointed Technology Platforms Manager who will lead the development and delivery of our cloud strategy and other technology platforms.

For this role we are looking for an exceptional individual  who is able to blend strong technical skills with a people focussed, collaborative leadership style.   The successful candidate will play a key part in our multi-disciplinary approach to service design and improvement.  You will need to be creative in designing and implementing our future tech, bringing services and users with you in a partnership approach.
