Head of Service - Therapeutic and Emotional Support Service (TESS)

We are looking to appoint a permanent Head of Service for our Therapeutic Emotional Support Service (TESS), our in-house emotional wellbeing service for children with care experience and young people who have left care.

The service undertakes direct therapeutic work with children and young people in care, promotes their health and emotional wellbeing and supporting those who have responsibility for their care.  TESS operates on the same practice principles as the wider Birmingham Children’s Trust, which is grounded in the relationship-based tradition and heavily influenced by systemic, strengths based and restorative approaches.

We will look to you to provide dynamic management and leadership of the TESS service, promoting a positive working culture; you will lead by example, by maintaining the highest standards of practice - and empowering others to do the same; you will have responsibility for the strategic development of TESS and be part of the senior leadership team within the Trust; you will also have budget responsibility for TESS ensuring budgetary discipline is maintained, as well as being responsible for the overall performance management of the service; you will work closely with key partners across the City such as Forward Thinking Birmingham to develop more integrated pathways for children with care experience.

Interviews will be held remotely week commencing 26th April 2021
