We are recruiting Newly Qualified Social Workers for the 2021-2022 Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE) programme. Eligible applicants will have completed their Social Work qualification no more than 2 years prior to the starting date, not have completed an ASYE programme before and otherwise meet the DfE requirements for undertaking the ASYE.
You will also be offered the opportunity to work as a Family Support Worker in Medway Children’s Services, whilst pending your Social Work England registration and prior to commencing your ASYE.
Medway offers NQSWs a unique ASYE programme above and beyond the basic requirements as set out by the DfE. Dedicated monthly training follows the Journey of the Child to ensure that by the end of the ASYE all NQSWs have knowledge and experience in all aspects of Children’s Safeguarding. Group Supervision helps NQSWs learn from each other’s experiences and training is provided by the Advanced Practitioners, internal trainers, Partner Agencies, and, crucially, Service Users. The Medway ASYE is based on the Knowledge and Skills Statement for Child and Family Social Workers in preparation for the upcoming National Assessment and Accreditation Service.
Upon completion of the ASYE programme you will receive a retention payment of £2,000. Beyond the ASYE Medway offers a comprehensive programme of training for Continual Professional Development.
This role requires you to be a newly qualified social worker (graduated within the past 2 years) with experience of working with children and families from your student social work placement. You will need to be Social Work England registered (or eligible once qualified) and ready to commence your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) in October 2021 and hold a recognised social work qualification. You will require a Full driving license (valid for use in the UK) and access to a car inclusive of car insurance for Business Use.
Medway welcomes applicants from both BA and MA university cohorts.
If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role please contact the ASYE coordinator Gemma Winspear on 01634 335730.
We reserve the right to close this vacancy at any time prior to the closing date.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to attend an assessment centre, consisting of a group exercise and written assessment. Candidates who are successful in the assessment centre will progress to a final interview.
This role will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and if shortlisted a form will be posted prior to interview for completion. We will not undertake the check if you are not successful in being appointed.
