Bright Start Nursery is recruiting 4 Early Years Practitioners to work in our busy nursery with children aged 6 months to up to rising 5's, for all 3 posts experience with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is desirable.

You will be be enthusiastic, caring and committed to the nurturing of young children and have an understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and a level 2 qualification or equivalent.  

1/ Fixed Term, for 12 months, 30 hours per week.  This post will be provide individual support to children between 3-5 years with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities . An understanding of autistic spectrum conditions and communication delays is desirable. 

2/ Fixed Term, maternity cover for 12 months, 26.25 hours per week

3/ Permanent, 17.5 hours per week. 

4/ Permanent, 30 hours per week

About the role

Bright Start Nursery is one of Brighton and Hove City Council Children’s Centre Nurseries. We operate 6 nurseries across the city and provide a high quality service for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. We are open Monday to  Friday from 8am to 6pm.

Bright Start Nursery is located within the North Laine and works closely with Tarner Children's Centre. We have a garden where children can play and explore in all weathers. We have a play based approach to learning in a fun, happy and calm atmosphere.

We are proud of our staff who are all qualified, or working towards a qualification. All our staff share our passion for delivering a high standard of care to the children and provide exciting opportunities for the children to grow, learn and develop into confident young people.

We are looking for qualified Early Years Practitioners to join our team to support young children with SEND. Applicants must be qualified to at least NVQ Level 2, or hold a degree in an unrelated subject and are prepared to work towards a childcare qualification. Applicants should have experience of working with young children in an early years’ environment; experience of delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS); experience of meeting the individual needs of young children and their families; demonstrate a passion and commitment for providing high quality care and learning opportunities and have good communication skills.

The role involves being a key person for a small number of children, building relationships; being an inspiration to the children; supporting attachment building; ensuring the children feel safe; planning activities; maintaining records; carrying out observations; assessing children and supporting growth and development.

We provide an induction and training programme and ongoing support in the form of regular supervisions and appraisals.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
