To succeed as a Loader, you will need to be a team player with outstanding behaviours towards your colleagues and the type of work we do.  You will need to demonstrate that you have a flexible attitude by working in other areas across our services when operationally required.

The work will include early morning starts and working outside in all types of weather.  It is physically demanding work which includes walking up to 10 miles per day.

Full training and PPE will be provided for you including boots.

In return, you will be working for one of the best waste collection authorities in the area working out of a depot with modern facilities and a great team environment.

Bank holiday working is contractual, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Where bank holidays are worked, pay is at the rate of double time and a half, plus 1 additional day time off in lieu per every 2 bank holidays worked. Saturday catch-up working is contractual at Christmas and New Year, paid at the rate of time and a half.

Please note that previous applicants in the last 6 months need not apply.

Staff are eligible to join a contributory pension scheme where the Council contributes 20% of pensionable salary. The Council also provides reimbursement for professional subscriptions and access to a car lease scheme.

If you would like to apply for the role, we highly recommend you show clearly within the ‘Experience Section’ of the application form how you meet the essential criteria detailed within the Role Profile when applying.
