Private Sector Housing Officer
Salary: £23,706 to £31,077
Working in local government is a highly satisfying and rewarding experience in so many ways. In return for the contribution you’ll make to the local community, we are a great employer to work for, with great benefits to offer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Private Sector Housing Team with emphasis on integrating housing and health services. We pride ourselves on being a customer focused and supportive team.
The successful candidate will have an empathetic, non-judgmental approach when dealing with customers and will be able to develop, manage and drive long lasting relationships with Social Services and contractors. A genuine interest in people is essential and you must be passionate about using your housing knowledge and experience to achieve the aims of the Better Care Fund and be able to demonstrate a high level of commitment to customer care and quality. Ideally you will possess a formal qualification in construction, building surveying or environmental health or be willing to work towards a qualification in one of these areas. You will support the work across the Housing Service to deliver on our range of legal responsibilities, focusing on the private rented.
You will have a sound foundation to your technical knowledge and be able to deal with a range of private sector housing issues. Ideally, you will have experience in processing Disabled Facilities Grants, undertaking house condition surveys, identifying defects in residential properties and applying the Housing Health and Rating System.
Applicants must have a sound working knowledge of IT and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Experience of using Uni-form/Renovator and IDOX or similar software is desirable but as technical drawing forms a large part of this role experience of using technical drawing software such as CAD (auto CAD Lt v2014) is essential.
