Teacher scale with Inner London allowance and 2C: negotiable depending on experience
We are looking to appoint a dynamic Head of DT. This role is vital to our improvement and will include leading the family of DT subjects and developing outstanding vocational provision. We will only appoint a candidate who we believe has the capacity to make an exceptional contribution to DT provision across the whole school and enable us to achieve our goal of all students leaving Lister having made real and substantial progress in their learning. The DT department comprises Food Technology, 3D Design, Construction and Design Technology. It will also involve working closely with the Head of Creative Arts.
The successful candidate will work with members of the Creative Arts and Design Technology teams along with other teams to continue to develop and improve learning. In particular, we are looking to develop Construction and develop STEM with the other schools on our Trust across the Borough.
If you think you have the potential to work as an outstanding Head of DT then an application form can be downloaded directly from our school’s website at: https://lister.newham.sch.uk/category/teaching-vacancies/
Completed applications must be returned to the school at the above address, or by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Completed application forms are required by: 3.00pm on Friday 23rd April
Due to high volume of applicants, we will only contact those candidates who have been selected to progress to the next stage of the process.
Lister Community School is a large, 11-16 comprehensive school. We are a mixed school that was judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2013 and has just celebrated its 6th consecutive year of record breaking exam results.
We are determined to build on our most recent Ofsted judgement and continue our journey to becoming ‘Outstanding’ in the next two years. Our motto is “always aiming for excellence’.
An exceptional school: Our vision is a world class education for young people in Newham. Lister is a large 11-16 comprehensive school at the heart of its community. Our November 2013 Ofsted report spoke of the school’s ‘consistent focus on raising the quality of teaching and developing a culture of learning and high aspirations across the school’. Recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country (DfE, January 2014) this is reflected in our sustained drive to become an Outstanding school with our Progress 8 at +0.47 and 5(A*-C) including English & Maths at 66%, the sixth consecutive year this has increased.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. This appointment will be conditional on successful pre-employment and enhanced DBS checks.
