4 vacancies have arisen for Seasonal Lake Wardens at the Wirral Sailing Centre, West Kirby. The lake wardens will already have experience of working in a sailing environment


The job role purpose is to control access to the Marine Lake through the issuing of day, seasonal & annual lake licences and to assist with the maintenance and security of the sailing craft, equipment and premises.


The Seasonal Lake Warden roles and key tasks include  controlling access to the Marine Lake for licence holders and other bona fide groups & individuals, operating Marine Lake powerboats and other equipment as directed, assisting with taking of monies (remotely), and issuing tickets, receipts & licences, preventing unauthorised use of the Marine Lake, ensuring Marine Lake licence holders comply with conditions of use and safety regulations, assisting with general maintenance of sailing school equipment, assisting with cleaning duties, opening & closing the building when on duty and act as a keyholder.

In this role, you'll support other members of the Marine Lake team.


You will provide us with copies of relevant qualifications (e.g. water sports instructors qualification, driving licence etc. a valid DBS certificate, (Update Service) a valid 1st Aid certificate.)


We are looking for wardens who can assist & communicate effectively with Marine Lake customers, has knowledge of handling financial transactions and income reconciliation, use IT skills required to issue Marine Lake licences, use email and input to bespoke data collection packages, can use Microsoft packages.


You'll need to hold the RYA L2 powerboat licence, a driving licence is desirable (access to the Council vehicle is provided for this purpose) and have experience working in a water sports environment & maintaining water sports equipment. To support this we are looking for wardens with a water sports instructor's qualification or demonstrate that you are working towards gaining one,


You will need to demonstrate an ability to work under your own initiative and to support other members of the Marine Lake team.


Above all you will be looking to improve the way we engage with our employees/residents/customers to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.


Interviews are planned for week beginning  19th April 2021


The start date is May 3rd. The post end date is Sunday 26th September 2021.

The four posts each average 10hrs across a four-week shift system.

Rate of pay is on the local authority Band D SCP6 £10.49 per hour.
