Residential Care Manager

About the School

Abbey School is a new Independent Day and Residential Special School for people aged 4-19 with autism whom may have additional learning difficulties and behaviours that challenge families and services.

About the role

This is a permanent, full-time post and we are seeking to appoint as soon as possible.

Joining Abbey School, you will find an experienced, committed, values-driven team of staff. We are keen to welcome an experienced social care leader who can inspire a culture of excellence within our new residential special school. You will be able to draw on full support from the range of specialists across Abbey School and will have the opportunity to work closely with the Principal/Deputy Principal to build an outstanding provision with our young people’s needs at its core – in short, a whole school community who will make you proud to be their Residential Care Manager.

We are looking for an outstanding leader who can demonstrate a great track record, a comprehensive understanding of the children’s care setting for SEN, quality assurance systems and processes, and the drive to develop positive and engaging relationships with all our key stakeholders.

You will be an expert in your field, bringing best in class experience with a clear vision and understanding of the link between leadership, management and true impact for young people. Supporting our residential children and families from the very first time they meet the teams, you will have a minimum of RQF level 5 in residential childcare or equivalent, with at least two years qualified experience. Direct experience with Ofsted social care inspections will have given you the proven track record of the good regulatory outcomes that our children deserve.

You will have a real eye for detail – knowing that our absolute commitment to the safeguarding of our children and young people is our top priority. You will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the National Minimum Standards for Residential Special Schools and the Ofsted Social Care Inspection Framework and the demands that this places on all aspects of our work.

Bringing our plans for Abbey School to life will be challenging and intense but, with enthusiasm, creativity and a hands on approach, the reward and satisfaction will be second to none. You will have a unique opportunity to shape and deliver the long term strategy for the school and our drive to transform the lives of our children and young people.
