Lewisham Youth Offending Service Family (LYFT) Therapists x3

Lewisham Youth Offending Service is progressive learning organisation which works within an established model of operation (Trauma-Informed, Restorative Approaches & Racial justice).

The role
We are currently recruiting trained therapists in either Systemic Psychotherapy, Functional Family Therapy, Humanistic Counselling (or a similar equivalent) to deliver an integrative home/community based model of family therapy to Children and Young People aged 11-18 year olds and their families, where there is offending or identified risk of offending. The intervention involves a whole-family, strengths based, systemic approach, supporting families who have complex, multiple needs, when other interventions may not have been effective.
You will be based within a small supportive team that works in collaboration with our Multi-disciplinary Therapy Hub (CAMHS, Speech and Language, Liaison and Diversion). In addition to providing therapeutic family intervention, LYFT therapist’s will also be embedded in supporting the evidence based practice of the Youth Offending Service, delivering relevant training and consultation to staff and partners, and participating in innovative trauma informed group work young people and their parents. You will receive extensive training in the Model, supportive clinical supervision as well as weekly group supervision.

What we’re looking for
The successful candidates will have a professional background with experience of working therapeutically with families and a proven track record of delivering highly effective and collaborative assessments and interventions. We are looking for people with a genuine passion for engaging with families to support change, who don’t give up easily but are determined to find ways of persisting with challenge and dis-engagement. The position requires a flexible working approach to meet families when they are available and will require evening availability.
Minimum requirements for this post are:
- A recognised professional therapeutic qualification
- 5 years’ experience of working with children young people and families
- Ability to demonstrate cultural competency.
- Knowledge and experience working with young people at risk of/involved in the Criminal Justice System.
- Willing to work hours that are best suited to families, this does include evenings.
