If you are an excellent communicator, with energy, proven experience in policy and public affairs, and an interest in how architecture shapes lives, then we want to hear from you.
Policy and Public Affairs Manager
Salary c£42,000 per annum + excellent benefits
Marylebone, London W1W - currently working remotely during Covid-19 restrictions.
Architects play a crucial role in our society. They design the buildings and environments where we live and work. The Architects Registration Board (ARB) is the professional regulator of architects. We maintain a Register to protect the public, so that anyone using an architect’s services, or a building designed by an architect, can be reassured that the design has been developed by an appropriate expert.
After the Grenfell Tower tragedy, Dame Judith Hackitt’s Review recommended changes to the way the built environment sector operates and is regulated. The draft Building Safety Bill includes crucial changes that will help to protect the public. ARB will need to understand the implications of these and other changes the government is introducing and take a modern regulatory approach as we implement the policy changes.
The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will join the newly formed Policy and Communications Department to help set up, manage and deliver all policy and public affairs activity. Reporting to the Director of Policy and Communications, you will have proven experience in designing and delivering proactive political and stakeholder engagement to help different audiences understand an organisation’s role, and in turn to understand their views and expectations. You will have written reports, briefings, consultations and a range of other materials to the highest standard and catering to a range of audiences. You will be able to grasp complex policy issues and explain them, and you’ll be comfortable gathering and interpreting evidence from a wide range of sources to inform policy development. You’ll be energetic, collaborative, ready for a new challenge, and passionate about improving the built environment.
In return, we offer 27 days’ holiday per year, generous pension arrangements and a comprehensive benefits package. This post is based in our central London office, however ARB supports flexible working and will be reviewing our office working arrangements in due course.
The closing date for completed applications is 11:00am on Monday 19 April 2021, and no applications will be accepted once this deadline has expired.
Interviews will take place during the week commencing 3 May 2021 and on 10 May 2021. Depending on government restrictions, this will either be at ARB’s offices in central London or remotely, via video link.
