COVID Testing Operative

Job Title: Testing Operative
Location: Base - Mundells, Welwyn Garden City (start and end point)
Hourly Salary: £11.96 per hour
Hours: 37 rolling average per week - 10 hour shifts (8am - 6pm: 3 days on, 4 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off)
Contract: Fixed term contract until end of June 

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, mass testing and tracing Hertfordshire’s residents is key to stopping the spread of COVID-19, helping to save lives, reinvigorate the economy and enable the population to return to normal life.

We are looking for dedicated individuals with excellent customer service skills and a commitment to helping fight COVID-19 to join our team. 

You will be part of a team of four, who will set up 'mobile' testing sites across Hertfordshire, to deliver self-administered COVID tests. All team members will start at our base in Mundells in Welwyn Garden City and be returned. Each team will have a van for the 'mobile' sites, in which you will be transported to and from Mundells. 

The role will involve assisting with the smooth running of the mobile testing site which includes:

  • Setting up a portable work space
  • Meeting and greeting members of the public
  • Managing the flow/queue of people on site
  • Giving verbal guidance on how to conduct the test
  • Keeping the workspace and vehicle clean to ensure clinical governance and processing/recording results of tests.
  • Driving a vehicle (long wheelbase van – 3.5m in length)

Please note:
This will have certain physical demands and candidates must to prepared for this physically and also be happy to work outside in all weathers.

Due to this being 'mobile' testing, you will be required to bring your own food/ refreshments for the day as upon leaving starting work in the community there will be no facilities for making hot drinks / preparing food.  Locations will be close to public toilets. 

Training and relevant PPE will be provided, and as part of the role you will be required to be tested regularly.

Driving: As part of this role, you will be required to hold a driving licence in order to drive our mobile testing van. In light of this, you must hold a full clean driving licence and therefore for this role a DVLA check will be required on appointment. Due to our insurance, you must be over the age of 21.
