Grounds Maintenance Operative (Part-Time / Seasonal)

NS5 £10.21 - £10.41 per hour

1278.75 hours worked per year as annualised hours (usually April – October)

Do you have an interest in the outdoors? Would you like to be in a role where you can make a real difference to the environment in which Newark and Sherwood residents live?

We are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hard-working person to join our Street Scene team as a Grounds Maintenance Operative. This is a seasonal role so, whilst you would remain employed by Newark and Sherwood throughout the year, you would usually work your hours over the 31 weeks between April and October.

In this role, you will be working with an experienced team who really care about the role they play in making Newark and Sherwood Cleaner, Safer and Greener. You must be prepared to work in all weather conditions, to accept varied duties, to be flexible in your approach to work and have the ability to adapt to changes to your workload.

You will join a team dedicated to maintaining the District Council’s open spaces, including parks, play areas, playing fields and amenity areas, to a high standard. You will have grounds maintenance skills and powered tools and plant operation experience.

Candidates must also have a full driving licence due to the requirement to drive Council vehicles as part of the role.

Your hours will be calculated over a 12 month period with all hours usually being worked over 5 days per week for 31 weeks during April and October. You may be required to work some weekends as directed by the supervisor / line manager when there is a business need. For example (but not limited to), if there is an event in the district or to cover unplanned absence.
