Grravesham’s Community Safety Unit (CSU) based at the Civic Centre is recruiting a new Community Safety Administrator. In addition to providing day-to-day clerical and administrative support to members of the CSU, the Administrator is the first point of contact for dealing with community safety enquiries from the public, internal colleagues, Members and partner agencies.
We are looking for a strong team player with excellent organisational skills, with experience of arranging meetings, minute taking, record-keeping and some knowledge of invoicing and maintaining financial records.
The Unit is the Council’s primary service area for local initiatives to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. Consequently, much of the Unit’s activity relies on joint working with external partners such as Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Kent County Council and others. This position requires someone with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the confidence to liaise with representatives from external agencies at a senior level. Much of the work of the Unit also involves the handling of restricted information and therefore, this post necessitates someone able to respect the need for confidentiality.
Excellent I.T. skills e.g. use of Word, Excel are essential.
The CSU is a very busy , friendly office and this is an ideal opportunity for someone who has an interest in community safety and/or crime reduction and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment dealing with a range of issues with the aim of making our Borough an even safer place.
