Education/Curatorial Assistant

Do you have a love of history? Are you passionate about education? Chertsey Museum is seeking an Educational Assistant to help deliver and expand their award-winning education service.

The successful candidate will be required to deliver sessions on a range of subjects that support the National Curriculum using objects from the museum’s collection. Sessions will last from 1 to 3 hours and be held at the museum and at local schools within the Runnymede Borough and surrounding areas.

You will need to have previous experience of working with children and an enthusiastic approach to learning. Previous experience in delivering education sessions and handling collection objects would be advantageous.

One day a month the post holder will assist the Curator with care of the museum’s collections.

Excellent communication and customer services skills are essential along with confidence in public speaking. We also require the post holder to be flexible and reliable, and able to travel to schools early in the morning when delivering sessions.

As this post involves travelling to schools you will need to hold a full valid driving licence and have use of a vehicle for this purpose. You will also be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
