Job description

We are looking for an outstanding procurement professional with significant experience in a public procurement environment.

About us

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service provides emergency response, prevention and protection services across the county as well as across our borders in support of our neighbouring communities. To protect our communities and respond to emergency calls we have 14 strategically positioned Fire Stations, an Emergency Communication Centre and Headquarters.

About the role

In this exciting role, you will lead and support all tender, contract and public procurement activity in relation to Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. You will be responsible for the delivery of a professional procurement service to the organisation and identifying areas where effective procurement and collaboration can lead to efficiency savings across the service.

You will provide professional advice, guidance and training on end to end commissioning, procuring and contract management policies, processes and procedures to all Budget and Senior Managers. You will also be accountable for the development and implementation of procurement plans, strategies and policies.

About you

Your expertise and ability to work with others to influence and build trusting relationships will allow you to create and implement change creatively. You will have significant experience of directing on and managing procurement projects in a public sector procurement discipline including the management of complex tender processes and influencing stakeholders.

You will also have significant knowledge of public procurement legislation and how to apply, maintain and revise internal procurement policies and practices to ensure alignment and legal compliance at all times.
