The Council recognises that access to our countryside, parks, green spaces and sports facilities remain hugely important for the health and wellbeing of residents and visitors. Well managed greenspaces are also important to the ecology and economy of the Borough.
We are currently seeking to employ a creative individual who will work with colleagues across the Council to help develop ideas, secure funding and implement innovative projects which assist the Council in achieving its objectives around greenspaces and health and wellbeing as set out within our corporate objectives.
The postholder will establish and develop close working relationships with both amateur sports associations and friend’s groups developing new volunteering opportunities whilst working with established volunteer groups to maintain the Council’s greenspaces, amenity areas and increase the use of the sports facilities across the Borough. The role will also have responsibility for managing the countryside access service and will lead on the management of our nature reserves. The postholder will work with the user groups and the Council’s events safety advisory group to ensure events are delivered safely on Council facilities.
The postholder will need experience of managing budgets and people and must also have experience of developing and managing projects, preferably in the field of parks, greenspaces or environmental activity. It is essential for the postholder to have experience of working with volunteers and developing partnerships.
A current driving licence and a degree or equivalent level qualification in the leisure/parks/green space sector, including business management are also essential.
