COVID-19 Information Officer

Due to the short-term need, we will be shortlisting and interviewing applicants on an ongoing basis. For this reason, the advert may be closed early.

Horsham District Council are looking for Covid-19 Information Officers, initially for a 6-month temporary contract, starting in May 2021.

As a Covid-19 Information Officer you will be focused on informing and engaging with local businesses, the voluntary sector and communities in relation to Covid-19 safe practices, offering information and advice about how to be Covid-19 safe and compliant.

As part of a wider Environmental Health team you will also need to be able to report back non-compliance to authorised officers for notices and other formal action.

To succeed as a Covid-19 Information Officer you will need to be able to assimilate guidance quickly and be able to articulate the information to various stakeholders. You must have strong people skills, be adaptable and organised and effective at lone working.

As a Covid-19 Information Officer you may be from a Local Authority or enforcement background and able to hit the ground running. It is crucial that you have knowledge of Covid-19 control measures and experience in a public facing role.

For an informal discussion about this role please call Marc Rankin - Head of Environmental Health & Licensing on 01403 215178

Horsham District Council encourages and supports their employees to have a healthy work life balance by supporting their professional development as well as offering 27 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata), a generous benefits package and an online platform offering discounts from online retailers. Staff are eligible to join a contributory pension scheme where the Council contributes 20% of pensionable salary. The Council also provides reimbursement for professional subscriptions and access to a car lease scheme.

If you would like to apply for the role, we highly recommend you show clearly within the ‘Experience Section’ of the application form how you meet the essential criteria detailed within the Role Profile when applying. If you do not make this clear, it is unlikely you will be shortlisted for interview.
