Project Manager (Team and Hybrid Meetings)

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Project Manager to join West Berkshire Council’s new Customer Engagement and Transformation Team.  This is a Fixed Term (Time Limited Project) opportunity for six months from commencement.

The Council has a duty to ensure the smooth running of remote and hybrid meetings and to ensure that it meets its statutory requirements with respect to public meetings and the local democratic process.  This role will be integral to these plans, providing expert project and programme management advice to officers, members and governance groups about their successful implementation in a dynamic environment as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

There will be a requirement to manage the paperwork for all meetings, prioritise and plan the agendas, support the project by the development and submission of relevant project briefs in line with the Project Management Methodology of the Council.  In addition, the role will be key to identifying, flagging and escalating issues of concern relating to the project, specifically, but not exclusively, related to resource difficulties and threats to the overall programme project delivery.

You should be educated to degree level or have compensatory experience. You must be an experienced Project or Programme Manager with excellent written and numerical skills as the postholder will be expected to write reports and undertake financial analysis. You must also be confident and capable of working under significant pressure and to tight deadlines on a number of projects at the same time. As you will be working directly with senior elected members and officers across the Council, you must be confident in negotiating timelines and resourcing issues.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.

West Berkshire Council offer excellent employment benefits such as flexible working, access to a wide range of relevant training, local government pension scheme, family friendly policies, a range of local discounts and much more. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days per annum rising to a maximum of 33 days.

Please contact Melanie Best on melanie.best@westberks.gov.uk to arrange an informal chat about this role.

Interviews are due to take place on 12th May 2021.
