Uttlesford is a thriving predominantly rural District in north-west Essex equal in size to half of Greater London, with international air (Stansted Airport), road and rail networks. With both new development and an historic and rural environment it offers the best quality of life in England and Wales.

We are looking for two Customer Service Advisors (one Permanent and one Fixed Term Contract) on a full time basis (37 hours) based on office working hours Monday-Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm AND Friday 8.30 am-4.30pm.

The postholder will be part of the Customer Service Team who are predominantly working from home at present. The Team’s aim is to ensure as many enquiries as possible are resolved at the first point of contact to maximise customer satisfaction. Enquiries will be dealt with via the telephone, live chat, email and some face-to-face giving advice and assistance on the whole range of District Council services as well as County, Parish, and the local community and other partner organisations. Enquiries will be dealt with by using various systems so candidates will need to demonstrate that they are highly skilled in IT and the general use of technology.

We are looking for people who are good communicators at all levels including telephone, face-to-face, email, live chat and written form. The ideal candidate will be patient and cheerful, have experience of dealing with customers and be able to work under pressure. Ideally, the candidates will have extensive computer experience (although some training will be given). They will need to demonstrate that they have the ability to provide an excellent service to all customers contacting the Council in accordance with the Council’s Customer Charter and ensure that a positive image of the Council is conveyed at all times.

The postholder may be expected at times to support any of the Customer Service Centres at Saffron Walden, Stansted, Great Dunmow and Thaxted, so there is a need for the post holder to be flexible. A full clean driving licence is essential along with the ability to travel within the District, often at short notice.
