Sustainable Travel and Road Safety Officer

We are seeking an enthusiastic team player to join our team with an understanding of current sustainable travel solutions and a knowledge and passion for developing and delivering our emerging network, including experience of road safety and transport planning. The role will range from providing walking, cycling and road safety training, providing planning comments, marketing information and supporting the delivery of infrastructure, including electric vehicle charging facilities. Skills in project management, policy, marketing and funding bid writing are also most desirable.

In addition to undertaking a range of educational and promotional initiatives within schools and the wider community, you will be providing sustainable travel advice for new developments at both planning and occupation phases. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as we look to achieve safe and sustainable travel behavioural change within North Somerset.

You will initially be required to work from home, but as government restrictions ease a mixture of home and office working is expected.

The post holder will collaborate with colleagues across the West of England authorities and share best practice with other national partnership organisations. The position comes with a competitive salary, local authority pension scheme, cycle to work scheme and flexible working.

For an informal discussion, please contact Frankie Mann, Sustainable Travel & Road Safety Manager on 01275 888904.

Anticipated interview date:  Monday 24 May 2021

North Somerset Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all sections of our community regardless of age, disability, sex, race, religion, belief or sexual orientation. North Somerset Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
