We are looking to recruit an exceptional Covid Testing Coordinator to support our newly established and growing Covid Response service in our Public Protection service here at Lancaster City Council.

The post is critical to support and develop our front line Covid Testing service as our understanding of the pandemic improves and we consolidate our local testing service.

You will help coordinate and develop our Covid rapid testing service, as well as assist and support the wider Covid response service where necessary.

Knowledge and experience of Local Authority functions and a broad understanding of Government policy and response relevant to Covid testing and the current pandemic crisis would be an advantage.

The hours of work for this post are 22.2 hours per week, working three days a week. The working days are to be agreed mutually with the successful applicant and the service, but the normal operating days are between Monday and Friday. This post is Temporary for 12 months and will be based at Morecambe Town Hall, however much of the work will be conducted using MS Teams.

The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.

Staff cover is required each working day during office hours, and availability for ad-hoc operational requirements necessitating occasional work in the early morning, evening and at weekends or on Bank Holidays.

Lancaster City Council has unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.

For internal applicants, this role can be a secondment opportunity. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to.
