Senior Business Support Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Business Support Manager to join our Resources team at Surrey County Council.

As Senior Business Manager, you'll report directly to the Resources Director of Financial Insight and manage the strategic programmes of work for the Resources Directorate, providing professional expertise and helping to develop and embed a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, collaborate and liaise with all senior stakeholders, members and internal networks to develop and implement initiatives providing key support in achieving the vision and objectives for the Directorate. 

The ambition is this role will encourage innovative thinking and provide insight to support the delivery of efficiencies, act as the lead for the business support community across the Directorate and be alert to emerging issues/trends which may impact or benefit the services.  This will include business planning, shaping agenda’s for the Directorate, effectively taking the lead on initiatives and projects via managing risks and issues, change control, building relationships with senior stakeholders and the creation and management of regular reporting to ensure delivery of intended outcomes.

In return, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your skills working as part of our network within the Resources Team.

About You 

To join us, you need to be organised, self-starting and adaptable. Good with people and great in a team, you'll work effectively with a range of internal stakeholders at all levels. You will have excellent communication skills, a qualification or demonstrable experience as a Senior Business Manager, significant experience of successfully leading, developing, and managing strategic programmes and the ability to facilitate meaningful change with a good understanding of working effectively in the Local Authority or public sector.

The role will be formally based in Reigate, however, during COVID-19 restrictions, homeworking is in place. Once offices are fully open we will retain an agile, flexible approach, including home working and flexible use of local offices in Surrey. We will make sure you have everything in place to do this effectively, including training in Microsoft Teams.
