Exceptional times require exceptional people.
Do you want to protect the district and help save lives? Do you want to make a difference to our community? Do you want to help reduce Covid-19 transmission? If so, then we have some great opportunities to join us in our fight against Covid-19.
We are looking for talented Covid Information officer Team Leaders to play a key role in supporting the work of our Public Protection team to help contain the spread of Covid-19.
You will co-ordinate the workload, allocation, and direction of work for the team of 14 Covid Information Officers. You will foster close professional relationships with town centre businesses and the public, providing guidance and assistance where necessary to resolve problems and answer queries in relation to Covid-19.
You will act as an ambassador for the Council in a preventive role to help reduce the spread of infection through education, advice and persuasion, working in partnership with colleagues from other teams across the Council. You will also liaise with key partner organisations such as the Police, Fire, NWAS, Universities and the NHS, sharing knowledge and working together in a joined-up approach.
The main site of work is either Morecambe Town Hall or The Storey Institute in Lancaster – however there will be a requirement to be able to travel to either base and much of your work will be based within the community outside of the office. A full driving licence is desirable, however not essential if you are able to travel to either location by foot/cycle or public transport.
The posts are temporary for 12 months.
The hours of work are 24 hours per week, working between Monday and Sunday. Working days are to be set in agreement with the Commercial Protection Manager and Covid Project Co-ordinator.
The Covid Information Officers work 7 days a week and therefore there will be a requirement to work across the 7 days on a rota basis with the other team leader and support from the Project Coordinator/Other officers from the service.
For internal applicants, this role can be a secondment opportunity. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to.
Lancaster City Council has unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
We are a Forces Friendly employer, and an Armed Forces Covenant committed organisation. We welcome applications from defence reserves and other members of our armed forces community.
Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.
If you would like an informal discussion to find out more about the post please call Kirsty Banks Lyon, on 01524 582385.
