Assistant Team Manager (Child in Need & Child Protection Team)

This is an exciting time to join Wokingham Borough Council as we expand our children’s workforce to meet an increase in demand for our services and create innovative new teams using Signs of Safety as our practice framework.

An Assistant Team Manager in our Brambles Long Term Team. Our long term teams work with children and their naturally connected networks to create safety plans for those subject to Child in Need, Child Protection and Child in Care plans.

When Children's Services get involved in the life of a child our priority is to make sure our social workers have the support, time and resources they need to provide an excellent quality of service - the kind of service we ourselves would wish to receive.

The goal of this team is work in partnership with families and other professionals to keep children within their naturally connected networks wherever safe and possible.  Where this is not possible we aim to work with children and their families to achieve permanency outside of family, whilst maintaining connections in accordance with the child’s needs.

We know that the success of ANY team will be dependent upon the people we employ.  We are keen to hear from those that are flexible, dynamic and willing to work with safe uncertainty, to achieve the best outcomes for our children.

To enable you to work to your best we will develop you in your role and as part of the team; additional training and support will be provided and you will have an opportunity to develop the range of interventions and skills you bring to make a difference to children.

The Assistant Team Manager role - is for those qualified social work managers who want to develop their skills to work systemically, within a trauma informed and Signs of Safety framework.
