About us

Through the multi-agency Children’s First Project, our Disability Children’s Social Care team are currently re-designing and re-shaping their service. Over the next and forthcoming months, we will be improving our delivery model to ensure that we can consistently offer creative packages of support and care to the children and families who access our service.

We are listening and engaging with our communities and our workforce.  As a result, we are implementing new delivery models, with partnership working strengthening our offer.

We would like forward thinking social work professionals to join our service to safeguard and protect our children and young people in Birmingham delivering improved measurable outcomes.

The work is varied and challenging and encompasses work with children in need to those children in care and everything in between.

About you

We are looking for an experienced dynamic Head of Service, with a wealth of child safeguarding knowledge, who has the passion and vision to focus on driving our service forward and able to risk manage effectively.

You will lead and direct our social work teams in providing consistent high-quality service delivery.  

You will demonstrate and improve outcomes for our children and young people with your skills at creating and supporting a culture of excellence and good practice in an inclusive environment.

You will be able to form and maintain strong professional relationships and lead on multi-agency partnership working with education and health, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills on all levels.

You will be part of a strong leadership team, who are at the centre to make these changes happen. You will be confident in delivering strategic organisational plans, working alongside assistant directors in ensuring optimum performance management and best practice.
