About The Job
Hourly rate: £10.78 - £10.99 per hour, including annual leave element

The role of the Events Steward and Usher plays an important role at events and ceremonies held at Edes House. Edes House is a Grade 1 listed building owned by West Sussex County Council, and due to its historic nature, it is important that we maintain the appropriate use of the facilities and that time is managed correctly within the building. The steward assists with the co-ordination of ceremonies by acting as an usher, for example receiving and guiding the guests. As well as assisting Registration Officers in the performance of their duties during ceremonies, the role also supports the events team with food and beverage service, room set-ups, event co-ordination and hosting events to the public.
Experience and Skills
- Literacy skills in order to understand written instructions describing tasks.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic cash handling and numeracy.
- Basic communication and interpersonal skills (including use of tact) in order to provide clear and concise instructions to a range of clients.
- General working knowledge of IT such as Word, Excel and email (or equivalent packages).
Qualifications and/or experience:
- Customer service experience in dealing with the general public.
- Experience of corporate hospitality within a catering environment with food and beverage service -Desirable
