About The Job

Salary: £29,557 - £32,234 (Full time)

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week) and Part-time available

Contract Length: 6 -12 months

Location: County Hall, Chichester

We have two opportunities available for HR Advisors. One is to support the Corporate Resources function with some TUPE activity initially for 6 months with the opportunity to extend as per business requirements and the other is likely to be for 12 months to cover for maternity leave. These opportunities will support different functions / services across WSCC.

As a HR Advisor you will be adept at dealing with employee relations issues, working alongside managers to ensure that their disciplinary, grievance and sickness cases are managed effectively and that we take a proactive stance to delivering outcomes. The role also encompasses supporting organisational change projects as well as building effective relationships with the services you work alongside.

You will be confident in providing advice on HR matters to managers and will have a keen interest in a broad HR role. You will have a positive, solution focused approach and be able to influence and communicate highly effectively. The role of a HR advisor can be busy but also rewarding, so you will be comfortable in managing your own priorities and be able to escalate areas of risk. You will work with HR Senior Business Partners and HR Business Partners to support the delivery of Directorate/Service People Plans, ensuring that accurate and proactive HR advice is delivered to managers and employees.

Experience and Skills

You will have good interpersonal skills to be able respond to manager and employee enquiries whilst being challenging and remaining professional and commercially focused. You will also possess excellent communication skills with the ability to successfully influence and persuade others.

You will need to have strong employee relations knowledge as well as the ability to challenge existing practices and identify innovative solutions. In addition you will also be able to demonstrate the following key skills and experience.

Key Skills:

  1. Ability to quickly establish credible working relationships with clients, in order to deliver a professional, accurate and customer focused service
  2. Ability to analyse and interpret data and information, carry out research and produce a written business report
  3. Demonstrable evidence of having researched and resolved issues and contributed to HR policies and/or procedures reviews

Qualifications and/or experience:

  • Working towards Level 5 in CIPD or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Experience of providing comprehensive HR generalist advice and support to managers on HR policies, practices and processes and responding to employee enquiries
