Financial Services Manager
Fixed term contract - 37 hours per week
£53,904 to £56,289 per annum

Strong financial management is critical in every aspect of the Council’s strategic decisions and operations. We have strong finances and we are embarking on some exciting future projects, including exploring commercial projects to ensure the Council is self-financing, regeneration and housing projects.
Working with the Interim Group Head of Corporate Support, you will provide financial and budgetary advice to Members, Directors, Group Heads and Senior Officers of the Council and act as Deputy Section 151 Officer. You will manage the Financial Services teams directing the provision of business support and management accounting services across the Council and prepare quarterly forecasts for cabinet, producing the Council’s annual statement of accounts and co-ordinating the preparation of the Council’s annual revenue and capital estimates and medium term forecasts.
You will need to be a qualified accountant (preferably CIPFA) with considerable experience of preparing management accounts, forecasts, budgets and final accounts, preferably in a local authority. Experience of commercial activities undertaken by local authorities would be an advantage. You will need good interpersonal skills, substantial experience of working with computerised financial information systems and excellent communication skills.
Please note that this post is a fixed term contract which is expected to last 12 months. The post is based at the Civic Centre in Littlehampton, although the majority of employees are still currently working from home.
This post has been identified as a Politically Restricted Post which disqualifies the post holder from membership of any local authority, other than a parish or community council, from being a Member of Parliament or a Member of the European Parliament, and from membership of the Scottish Parliament or Welsh Assembly. They are subject to prescribed restrictions on their political activity through the Local Government Officers (Political Restrictions) Regulations 1990 (SI 1990/851). This includes canvassing.
