Salary Range: Up to £53,042 p.a. + one off £4,000 welcome payment + £4,000 market forces payment p.a. (pro rata for part-time)

Job Duties:
Hertfordshire County Council offers an ideal opportunity for highly motivated, enthusiastic and organised Lawyers to join a large and thriving public sector legal team.
The Lexcel accredited Legal Services department has over 100 employees, it is one of the largest legal departments in local government and provides a full legal service across all specialisms to both the county council and to other public sector bodies.

This is a key legal role in Legal Services and we are looking for an individual who will assist the Head of Commercial, Education & Health Law by contributing to the overall management of the delivery of high quality, cost effective legal services to the County Council, its members and officers.  Providing expert & commercially minded legal advice on procurement and commercial matters including innovative methods of service delivery and for ensuring the drafting and negotiation of effective documentation that achieves clients’ objectives.

You would be responsible for managing the lawyers in the Commercial Law Group ensuring that effective processes are in place for recruiting, developing, appraising, supporting, rewarding and retaining employees, promoting attendance and performance in line with Council policy. In addition to being responsible for the financial position of the Commercial Law Group, including monthly budget monitoring and income forecasting.

The Commercial Law Team is a fundamental part of the development of the county council and provides the opportunity to be involved in a broad portfolio of legal work concerned with major projects, complex procurements, establishing and servicing companies and the wider commercialisation of the county council.
