Motivational Interviewing Practice Lead

The starting salary for this position is £45,734 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity to use your Motivational Interviewing expertise to support and develop others?

Over the last year we have been embedding the Family Safeguarding Model of practice to help support the children and families of Surrey, who are at the heart of everything we do. Motivational Interviewing is a key cornerstone of our Family Safeguarding Model.

We are a team of dedicated professionals and want to support our families to tackle the causes of children being in need or at risk by using our strength-based practice approach of Motivational interviewing.

These exciting new posts have been created to support our practitioners, managers and leaders to develop and build their skills and confidence in the use of Motivational Interviewing (MI).

About you

You will be liaising with internal services and partner agencies, offering advice, guidance and building their skills in their use of MI. You will prepare and deliver bespoke sessions or group sessions to facilitate learning and work proactively to build confidence in the use of MI.

As a Motivational Interviewing Practice Lead you will have:

  • Significant experience in Motivational Interviewing
  • Ability to lead on embedding Motivational Interviewing and strength-based practice
  • Ability to positively stimulate and influence practitioners and managers and spreading the culture of MI across the organisation
  • Relevant experience and confident in group work to deliver structured and bespoke MI training/development sessions

About the Service

The roles sit within the Family Resilience and Safeguarding Service. There are four geographical areas across the county. You will be working across either the North West and South West, or North East and South East. You will be working with practitioners and managers from various teams across Children’s Services.

You will be working within a skilled, competent multidisciplinary team whose main function is working with Children and Families in need of additional support. You will report to a Family Safeguarding Service Manager. There is no line management responsibility in this role.
