Can you help support Hertfordshire to commission better outcomes for children and young people?

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the CLA & Safeguarding Commissioning Team within Specialist Services.

The CLA & Safeguarding Commissioning Team is responsible for the effective commissioning and procurement of placements for Children Looked After and a range of support services for Children Looked After and Children on the edge of care. We work closely with the Brokerage Accommodation Team to fulfil this function.

You will play a key role in contributing to the development of commissioning strategies, working with key stakeholders and service users to help develop services. You will be responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of commissioned services, ensuring they are of high quality, are safe, provide value for money and ensure service users are at the heart of service design and delivery.

We are looking for someone with relevant experience and skills in commissioning and/or service monitoring with excellent communication and partnership working skills. Developing strong effective relationships with key stakeholders and experience of working with providers is key to this role.

We require someone with the ability to effectively project manage with good attention to detail. You will also have data interpretation and report writing skills together with the ability to work within regulatory and procedural guidelines.

An element of the role will be to undertake monitoring visits in various locations in Hertfordshire and nationally requiring the ability to drive and/or travel to venues. You will need to be willing and able to respond to requests to travel, sometimes at short notice.

Current working practice is to work from home due to the pandemic, but this role is ordinarily based in one of the County’s main office buildings in either Stevenage or Hertford.
