We have an opportunity for a full time Social Worker to join our well established, friendly and supportive locality team in Adult Services. We are a small Local Authority with a mixture of urban and rural communities which offers great variety and positive challenges. West Berkshire Council is embracing a new way of working with a strong focus on localities and a strengths based approach to the people that we work with.
You will work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists and Social Care Practitioners in a very varied role which will involve working with adults with a wide range of needs and disabilities. Experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities will be of benefit for this post and you will need a working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Safeguarding processes. You will have a minimum of 1 years’ experience and be registered with Social Work England.
You will contribute to team performance and in return you will be offered regular professional supervision and there are opportunities to further develop your own skills by attending the Best Interests Assessor course and/or working as a placement supervisor or supervising unqualified staff and supporting the NQSW system.
The postholder will hold a full and complex caseload and need to prioritise the caseload and duty responsibilities effectively using case management systems and have good interpersonal skills with an enthusiastic and positive outlook.
There will be an element of office based working to support the duty function, although you will have the ability to work remotely. The offices are based at Turnham's Green in Calcot, which is easily accessible from the M4 motorway and offers free parking.
