Community Development Officer - Sport & Health

This is an exciting position focused on increasing awareness and participation in sport and health throughout the community in Runnymede. The aim is to particularly target young people, those with disabilities, women and older people.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join our team who will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the training programme for the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games, working with various organisations to develop sports, leisure and health opportunities for local residents and will be the main point of contact for all sports clubs and health providers in the Borough.  In addition to this research, development and the implementation of new activities will be undertaken as part of ongoing development of the initiatives.

You should have experience of working in a similar environment and a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject would be desirable. Experience of partnership working with other agencies/authorities and of organising sports events and activities is also vital as is having an understanding of the effect physical activity can have on health.  If you have budget management and/or web pages management experience this will also be advantageous.

As the lead on various events and projects throughout the year you will need good communication skills and an ability to plan, organise and prioritise your workload. You should be flexible, adaptable and able to cope under pressure. Working with a broad range of coaches, organisations, partners and the public excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills are essential. You should be adept at working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
