An opportunity has arisen in the newly formed Building Control partnership between Charnwood Borough Council and North West Leicestershire District Council for a Building Control Surveyor.
We are looking to expand our current team with additional highly motivated and skilled staff who can support the development of a strong Building Control team who aim to offer a high quality service to existing and new customers alike.
As a Building Surveyor you will need to demonstrate an extensive knowledge and application of The Building Regulations and associated legislation in your current or recent employment. You must be able to evidence that you have worked across a broad range of work types commensurate with the role including Building Regulation enforcement and dangerous structures.
You will need to evidence your ability to maintain and develop a high standard of customer relations, being aware of the commercial nature of the sector. You will also need to be motivated to positively engage with current clients and play a proactive role in developing new ones, helping to attract new business to the service in a developing commercial environment.
As a member of the Building Control Team you will need to have excellent communication skills and will be expected to support effective and efficient working practices. You will need to demonstrate an ability to meet deadlines, show a high degree of self-motivation to manage your own workload within agreed parameters. You will also need to evidence that you can work as a team member, working with colleagues in a supportive and cooperative way.
Candidates will need to have a high standard of relevant IT, communication and organisational skills, ideally have experience working with Northgate M3 or Idox Uniform back office systems and Building Control administrative processes. You will also need to be conversant with the current suit of MS Office products.
Candidates will need to be member of a relevant professional organisation and be able to demonstrate a level of professional competency commensurate with the post and its rage of work type in line with LABC’S competency frame work at level 4 or Level 5 Diploma in Public Service Building Control.
