We have an opportunity within our Highway Network Management Team for a Senior Technician to help us co-ordinate activities on the highway in North Somerset. The role is fixed term for 2 years.


Working in a small team you will be responsible for assessing, co-ordinating and approving highway licenses relating to (but not limited to) skips, scaffolding, hoardings/fences, vehicle dropped kerbs, tower cranes builder’s materials on the public highway.


You will also draft and implement temporary traffic regulation orders relating to road closures, including reviewing/deciding appropriate alternative diversion routes as well as other temporary traffic restrictions.


Previous experience with temporary traffic orders/highways legislation is required and an understanding/experience of highway licencing desirable.


Due to the current climate, home working will be required. A return to an office based environment may be required during the term of this contract. In addition, undertaking of site visits will be required from time to time.


You will be self-motivated and need to have good IT and communication skills, have a methodical approach and an eye for detail. You must be able to prioritise work effectively and be able to work flexibly and to tight deadlines. Knowledge of the local area would be advantageous although not essential.
