The West of England is one of the UK’s most vibrant regions, with high employment, successful businesses, excellent schools and colleges, and four world-class universities. Over the last decade, our economic contribution has outperformed the national average, and we are committed to making it even better through clean and sustainable growth.
Our transport network is at the heart of this and the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) is responsible for setting the region’s transport strategies and policies; leading and delivering major transport schemes across the region; and co-ordinating the transport input of the region’s three constituent council’s – Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Officer to join the team.
Based in Bristol and working to the Head of Transport, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the Authority’s Transport Vision and Joint Local Transport Plan, supporting key regional transport projects and providing professional advice on transport and related environmental issues. Whether you’re helping to define and deliver our transport and climate targets; working on new transport technology and future mobility; or supporting our mass transit project, you’ll be a key member of a small team with a challenging and varied workload.
You’ll have an enthusiasm and passion for making a difference in our region; a degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies/Science or relevant field; demonstrable experience of contributing to key transport projects and strategy documents (such as local transport plans and bus strategies); and an extensive understanding of transport and highways legislation, challenges and best practice.
