The Technical Services department has responsibility for maintaining and providing advice for an extensive and diverse portfolio of both operational and non-operational premises. The portfolio consists of office buildings, leisure facilities, car parks, commercial premises, bereavement services buildings and social housing premises.

The Council is seeking a driven, experienced and qualified Building Surveyor to join our Capital Projects team. You will contribute to ensuring that the Council’s assets are fit for purpose for staff, residents and visitors alike; and that we achieve our zero carbon target by 2030.

Your main function will be as Lead Surveyor on a wide range of projects from RIBA stages 0 through 7, in accordance with the requirements of our capital investment programme. Projects may be complex and will involve a varied team of professionals. You will need excellent time management and communication skills to deliver a high standard of service to our internal client base.

In addition, duties will include professional services such as party wall and dilapidations; undertaking condition surveys; conducting feasibility studies; CAD work; and compiling and submitting statutory applications.

In return we offer a competitive salary, flexible working hours, a generous leave entitlement and Local Government Pension Scheme (LPGS).

As a minimum requirement, candidates must have relevant project experience. The role is best suited to a Chartered Building Surveyor with experience of Local Authority procurement.
