Job Title: Data Protection and Compliance Officer

Salary: £41,616 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week
The Barnet Group is currently seeking to recruit a Data Protection and Compliance Officer. The role will report into the Head of Strategy and Compliance and will work closely with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.

To support our progressive and growing organisation we are looking for an experienced Data Protection and Compliance Officer who can work flexibly and innovatively to support the business and play a key role in its future success. We are looking for a highly motivated person with initiative and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
In this role, reporting to the Head of Strategy and Compliance, the successful candidate will be our Data Protection Officer and responsible for ensuring we protect our data in the best way possible, providing guidance and assurance on processes and handling data, and championing the value of data in the future success of our organisation. The DPCO will be the organisation’s subject matter expert on data protection issues and will share knowledge and increase understanding and compliance across the business.
The role will also play a part in other key regulatory and statutory compliance activities as required, including supporting the development of Equality Impact Assessments and supporting the strategic planning processes.
The Data Protection and Compliance officer will work closely and build relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders to shape these areas of work.

What you’ll need to be successful:
- Be a collaborative, passionate individual, demonstrating excellent communication skills to a variety of audiences;
- An understanding of data protection legislation from the rules through to the practical implementation of them;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Be comfortable using technology;
- Project management skills.
