About the role

We are seeking to appoint a person to co-ordinate the Local Authorities response to unauthorised encampments in the city. Working within the field officer team you will work closely with partners and other council teams to balance the needs of those individuals living in unauthorised tented encampments with the needs of local communities.

The successful candidate should have knowledge and understanding of issues relating to unauthorised encampments in an urban environment and how these intersect with public and political expectations and pressures in Brighton & Hove.

As well as  knowledge and understanding of the specific needs, vulnerabilities and risks that can be associated with those who are street homeless or leading a street-based lifestyle and an knowledge of  different approaches to unauthorised encampments and those occupying them, including enforcement interventions, and when and how these might be used effectively.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
