More Information

Marketing & Communications Officer

Folkestone & Hythe is a vibrant, connected and energetic district situated on Kent’s south coast and under an hour away from London via High Speed rail. We are supportive of home working, have staff who work remotely across the country and therefore welcome applicants from outside the county. We also have a flexible working culture, corporate memberships and rewards, Employee Assistance Programme, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Exciting changes are happening in the district, including rapid expansion in the number of homes and jobs – our new Garden Town will deliver up to 10,000 new homes and land for business use over the next 30 years.

The post of Marketing and Communications Officer (Communications & Campaigns Specialist) is a new job and an exciting opportunity for someone to make the role their own. We want a communications expert who can bring their experience and creative drive to help shape the future of Folkestone & Hythe District Council. It goes without saying that you will be an experienced communications professional who connects with our corporate vision and values. You will have substantial experience of delivering best in class communications activity whilst understanding the importance of our external profile and brand.

You will be responsible for the management of creative campaigns across the council and also for specific communications support for our new Housing service which was brought in-house last year. You will use your creativity and excellent copywriting skills to ensure our brand, narrative and reputation is both recognised and valued within the district, in our workplace, as well as by our residents and partners.

You will work across marketing activity, media management, including reactive PR, as well as the creation, implementation and evaluation of the council’s priority campaigns and projects. You will maximise the use of digital communications for campaigns, including social media and email marketing, and work closely with the web team to ensure content is of excellent quality.

You’ll be joining a busy, creative and collaborative communications team where enthusiasm is highly valued.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jane Walker, Senior Communications and Engagement Specialist via jane.walker@folkestone-hythe.gov.uk
